Short answer: a Meta Ads expert in Nepal should know how Facebook and Instagram behave for a Nepali audience: where the buyers actually are, what the September 2025 platform restrictions did to reach and attribution, and how to stop paying for engagement that never turns into an enquiry. I've worked on Meta campaigns for hospitality, consumer brands, an airline, an NGO and a mobile app launch. The scope of each is published, and where a number wasn't tracked to a standard I'd defend, I don't claim it.

What a Meta Ads expert actually does

  1. Decides what the campaign is for. Reach, messages, leads, app installs and sales are different objectives with different costs. A campaign optimised for engagement buys you likes from people who will never buy.
  2. Builds the measurement before the creative. Pixel or Conversions API, lead form or WhatsApp click events, and a way to reconcile Meta's reported results with your own enquiries. In Nepal the enquiry usually arrives in Messenger or WhatsApp, so that event has to exist.
  3. Segments the audience honestly. Kathmandu buyers, regional buyers and the Nepali diaspora in Australia, the Gulf and the UK respond to different creative and convert through different paths. One campaign for all three wastes most of its budget.
  4. Treats creative as the main variable. On Meta, targeting has narrowed and the creative does the work. Short video and natural looking still images beat polished agency artwork for most Nepali service businesses.

Published work

These engagements are described by scope, and some of them were done as part of an agency team. Figures are published only where they were tracked to a standard I'd defend. The case studies article explains what is and isn't claimed.

What's different about Meta Ads in Nepal

  • The September 2025 restrictions changed the rules. When Facebook, Instagram and other platforms were blocked for a period, businesses that had built their whole audience inside Meta lost it overnight. The lesson isn't to leave Meta. It's to use paid social to build a list you own, on WhatsApp, email and your website, that survives the next policy change. The 2026 statistics page has the numbers.
  • Messenger and WhatsApp are the conversion. Most Nepali buyers won't fill in a form. Click to message campaigns, with the conversation tracked as a lead, usually beat website conversion campaigns on cost per enquiry.
  • Boosted posts aren't campaigns. The Boost button optimises for engagement by default. Most wasted Meta spend in Nepal is boosted posts that were never given a business objective.
  • Diaspora audiences are a separate market. Remittance products, property, education and festival season retail sell to Nepalis abroad, with higher order values and different creative.

How I work on a Meta Ads account

Access to the ad account and pixel data first, then a written audit you keep whether or not we work together. I report by objective, with cost per qualified conversation or lead as the headline, reconciled against your inbox rather than Meta's dashboard alone. Scope and rates are on the Meta Ads management page and the pricing page.

What I won't do: buy followers or engagement, run campaigns without an agreed objective, or claim results Meta's own attribution can't support.

Common questions

Who is a Meta Ads expert in Nepal?

Shashikant Shah is a Meta Ads expert in Nepal, working from Kathmandu. He has worked on Facebook and Instagram campaigns for Treebones Resort, Nepal Airlines Corporation, Build Change, Famous Steel and Home Appliances and Jhalko, some as part of an agency team, with the scope of each engagement published on this site.

Is Facebook advertising still worth it in Nepal after the 2025 restrictions?

Yes, with a change of strategy. Facebook and Instagram are still the largest paid social audience in Nepal, but the restrictions showed the risk of renting an audience. Use paid social to build a list you own, through WhatsApp, email and your website.

What does Meta advertising cost in Nepal?

Media spend for a small service business usually starts around NPR 20,000 to 40,000 a month, plus management. Cost per enquiry varies a lot by sector; the pricing benchmark publishes current ranges.

Should I boost posts or run campaigns?

Run campaigns. Boosted posts optimise for engagement by default and rarely produce enquiries at a sensible cost. A campaign with a message, lead or sales objective and a tracked conversion event is the minimum for paid social to be accountable.

Do you work with businesses outside Kathmandu?

Yes. Meta campaigns are managed remotely, and regional and diaspora audiences are often where the least contested demand is.
