Short answer, if that is all you need: an SEO consultant in Kathmandu audits why your site is not ranking, fixes the technical and structural causes, optimises your Google Business Profile for local searches, and builds pages that answer buyer questions. Expect four to eight weeks for technical gains and four to six months for meaningful movement on competitive commercial terms. Nobody can guarantee a number one ranking.

Who this is for

This is for businesses in Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur and the wider valley who already have a website and are not getting enquiries from it. It is also for Nepali companies who have paid an agency for six or twelve months and cannot tell you what changed, which is a complaint I hear often enough that I wrote a separate buyer's guide about it.

It is not for you if you want volume link building, if you want someone to promise a specific ranking position, or if you are looking for the cheapest possible monthly retainer. There are vendors in Nepal who will do all three. They are not hard to find and I am not competing with them.

What the work actually involves

1. Technical audit and crawl health

Before anything else, I find out whether Google can crawl and index the site properly. In practice this is where most Nepali business sites are losing ground, and the problems are rarely exotic: pages that return the wrong status code, canonical tags pointing at the wrong URL, internal links that hop through redirects, sitemaps listing URLs that no longer exist, staging environments left indexable, and JavaScript-rendered pages that ship almost no crawlable HTML.

That last one is worth dwelling on. A modern single-page framework can produce a site that looks perfect in a browser and delivers almost nothing to a crawler that does not execute JavaScript, which includes several of the AI crawlers now feeding answer engines. I check what the raw HTML actually contains, not what the rendered page looks like.

My working method here is the same one I documented publicly in my 60-minute SEO audit checklist, so you can see the approach before you hire anyone.

2. Core Web Vitals and page speed

Page experience is a real ranking input and, more importantly, a real conversion input. Nepal has a large share of mid-range Android traffic on variable mobile connections, so a site that scores well on a desktop test can still be painful for most of your actual visitors. I measure on throttled mobile conditions, identify what is genuinely blocking the main thread or delaying the largest contentful paint, and fix causes rather than chasing a score.

3. Local SEO and Google Business Profile

For most Kathmandu businesses, the map pack is worth more than the classic blue links. That means a claimed and fully completed Google Business Profile with the correct primary category, accurate hours, a real service area, genuine photos and a steady flow of authentic reviews. It also means consistent name, address and phone details everywhere those appear, and location signals in your on-page content and structured data that match reality.

I will not generate fake reviews or fake citations. Both are visible to Google, both risk a manual action, and both are common enough in the Nepali market that being clean is genuinely a differentiator.

4. Content and internal structure

Ranking pages are pages that answer a question completely. I map your services to the way buyers actually search, then make sure each intent has one clear page rather than seven half-pages competing with each other. Internal linking then makes that hierarchy legible: hub pages link down to detail pages, detail pages link back up and sideways to supporting articles.

5. Structured data and entity signals

Schema markup will not make weak content rank, but it does help search and answer engines understand what your business is, where it operates and what it offers. For a local business that usually means LocalBusiness or Organization markup, service markup for each offering, breadcrumbs, and FAQ markup where there are genuine questions. Done properly, this is also what increasingly determines whether you get cited inside AI answers rather than merely listed.

6. Measurement

Reporting comes from Google Search Console and Google Analytics, connected to your own accounts. Query-level impressions and clicks tell you far more at Nepali search volumes than a rank tracker does, because a single position change on a low-volume term is noise while a broad impression trend is signal. If a month goes badly, the report says so.

How engagements work

Most start with a paid audit. That gives you a written, prioritised list of what is wrong and what it is worth fixing, and it is useful whether or not you continue with me. From there, engagements are usually either a fixed-scope implementation project or a monthly retainer with an agreed set of deliverables.

I take a small number of clients at a time. You deal with me directly, and the person who scopes the work is the person who does it. There is no account manager layer, which also means I am the person who has to explain it when a month underperforms.

On pricing, I would rather point you at published market data than invent a number on a web page. I compiled and sourced actual Nepali agency rates in this breakdown of what digital marketing costs in Nepal, including what each budget level realistically buys. Bring me your budget and I will tell you honestly whether it is enough to achieve what you want.

What I will not do

  • Guarantee a ranking position. Google's own documentation warns you about anyone who does.
  • Buy links or place content on link farms. Nepal's link market is heavily footprinted and the downside is severe.
  • Create fake reviews or fake business listings.
  • Hold your Search Console, Analytics, Business Profile or ad accounts in my name.
  • Report on vanity metrics while enquiries stay flat.

Common questions

How long does SEO take to work in Nepal?

Technical fixes can show measurable change within four to eight weeks. Movement on competitive commercial terms usually takes four to six months of consistent work. Lower-competition long-tail terms can move faster.

Do you guarantee number one rankings?

No, and you should treat any guarantee as a warning sign. What I commit to is a defined scope, transparent reporting from your own data, and an honest assessment of what is achievable.

Who owns the accounts?

You do, in every case. Accounts are created under your Google account and I am added as a user. Ending the engagement costs you nothing but my access.

Do you work outside Kathmandu?

Yes. I am in Kathmandu and can meet in person in the valley, but delivery is remote, so I also work with clients elsewhere in Nepal and internationally.

Is SEO better than running ads?

They solve different problems. Ads buy you traffic immediately and stop when you stop paying; SEO compounds slowly and keeps working. If you need leads this month, start with Google Ads. If you want a channel that is still producing in two years, do both and let the ad data tell you which keywords are worth the SEO investment.
